What is Remote Quoting?

One thing you might commonly hear nowadays is “We do all of our quoting remotely”, but what exactly does this mean? How do you know how bad my property is without actually being here? How do I do this in my home service business? Well, we’re going to answer all of these questions in this short blog post!

What exactly is remote quoting?

Remote quoting allows us as a business to map out your home and get a accurate quote from a distance! Remote quoting is done after receiving information from a customer such as address and areas that need to be attended to, this is then used to go into Google Earth and use the measurement tool to map out your home’s size from satellite view. The size of the area can then be used to decide pricing, and as the amount of chemical for the size of building stays about the same, this gives us an accurate idea as to how long it will take and how much chemical will be needed.

Note: Quoting can be based on many other factors including distance, availability, and types of chemicals needed.

How is it done?

Navigate to Google Earth, and lets begin!

Cursor over "Measure distance and area"

Step 1: Click on “Measure distance and area”

Measuring out the linear ft of a commercial building

Step 2: Measure out the area needing attention

Marking out the area gives us two numbers one being the "Perimeter" and the second being the "Area"

Step 3: In the upper right corner it should show you measurements, perimeter being the external walls length and area being the space inside those walls

Step 4: You’re done! These measurements can then be multiplied by your desired rate per foot. (Ex: If our rate per foot on an exterior wash is $20 (It isnt) we do 20 x 1,895 = $37,900)

Why do we use remote quoting?

There many reasons we quote remotely at Lansing Precision Power-Wash (and no its not because we’re just lazy). The biggest reason is to give YOU the customer quicker quotes at a cheaper price! If we don’t have to send a tech out to your home to quote it, that’s less gas spent and more money in your pocket! But another reason is it has become industry standard in recent years, and to stay in the fight you have to keep up with the times, that means moving on from traditional face-to-face quoting and into the digital era! I feel like this can be used for many different service businesses, I have a buddy who runs a landscaping company that I suggested this to and could imagine this would fit into many businesses!
